High-Protein Animal Style Smash Burger Bowl

POV: you want In-N-Out but need 60g protein. Crispy smash patties, animal-style onions, fries IN the bowl, Greek-yogurt secret sauce. 30 minutes, ∼60g protein.

  • INGREDIENTS

    Burger Bowls:

    1 lb 93% Lean ground beef

    2 slices Cheddar cheese

    1 head Butter lettuce, chopped (or 4 cups romaine)

    Cherry tomatoes

    Pickled red onions

    Dill pickle chips

    Fries of choice

     

    Animal Style Onions:

    1 large Yellow onion, thinly sliced

    1 tbsp Avocado oil or tallow

    1 tsp Coconut aminos or low-sodium soy sauce

     

    High-Protein Secret Sauce:

    ¾ cup Non fat Greek yogurt

    1 tbsp Mayonnaise

    3 tbsp Ketchup 

    1 tbsp Yellow mustard

    1 tbsp Pickle juice

    2 tbsp Chopped pickles

    ½ tsp Paprika

    Salt

    Pepper

  • INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Cook fries until extra crispy
    2. Cook onions in oil with a pinch of salt for 8 to 10 minutes until golden. Stir in coconut aminos at the end
    3. Season beef with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and mustard. Form 4 balls, smash thin, and cook until crispy (3 minutes per side). Add cheese to 2 patties, then stack with grilled onions
    4. Mix together High-Protein Secret Sauce ingredients
    5. Assemble bowls with lettuce, fries, burgers, tomatoes, pickles, red onion, and lots of sauce
