Hawaiian Burger

Hawaiian Burger

I’m calling it now. A classic American smash burger with melty cheese, pickles, and burger sauce meets sweet, smoky charred pineapple. This is the burger I’ll be making from now on

Serves: 2 burgers

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 35 minutes

Total time: 50 minutes

  • INGREDIENTS

    Hawaiian Burger:

    2 Thick pineapple rings

    1 tbsp Maple syrup

    1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 pinch Smoked paprika and Black pepper

    1 lb 80/20 Ground beef

    Salt

    Pepper

    1 tbsp Yellow mustard

    2 slices American cheese

    2 Brioche buns, toasted

    Pickle chips

    Shredded iceberg lettuce

    Burger sauce

    Caramelized Onions:

    1 Sweet onion, thinly sliced

    A little Oil

    1 pinch Salt

    1 dash Worcestershire

  • INSTRUCTIONS

    Caramelized Onions:

    1. Cook low and slow with a little oil, salt, and a splash of Worcestershire until golden and jammy, about 25 to 30 minutes

    Hawaiian Burger:

    2. Mix maple, Worcestershire, paprika, and pepper. Brush over the pineapple rings and grill or pan sear until caramelized and lightly charred, about 3 to 5 minutes per side

    3. Split beef into four 4 oz balls. Get the griddle or cast iron hot. Smash thin, season, swipe with mustard, cook for 2 to 3 minutes, flip, add cheese, and cook 1 more minute for crispy edges

    4. Build it: bun, sauce, lettuce, double patty, onions, pineapple, pickles, sauce, top bun
